Short Takes: Ex-Citicorp Banker Joins Investment Firm

A Citicorp private banker joined Weiss, Peck & Greer as director of private client sales, marketing, and client services, the New York-based investment firm announced Monday.

Jane L. Shahar was named a principal of Weiss Peck, which has served affluent individuals since 1970. Ms. Shahar was a managing director in Citicorp's private bank, where she was responsible for an established wealth group that oversees $4 billion of assets.

Her appointment follows the departure last month of Weiss Peck principal Kenneth F. Tarr, who became chairman of Deutsche Bank Trust Co. in New York; and the hiring of Don Ceglar in June as director of institutional sales, marketing, and client services, a new position. Before becoming a private banker, Ms. Shahar worked as an investment banker for Citicorp with North American and Latin American clients.

Weiss, Peck & Greer, which also operates offices in Chicago and San Francisco, manages about $14.5 billion. It also provides private equity, venture capital, and clearing services.
