Huntington Bancshares set up a toll-free telephone line for life insurance sales this week with a 24-hour quote service.
Customers calling into the Columbus, Ohio-based bank can buy term life as well as universal life insurance underwritten by Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance Co., Denver.
"We're pleased to be one of the first banks in the country to offer customers another way to take control of their money with these value- oriented life insurance products," William K. Browning, president of Huntington Insurance Services, said in a prepared statement.
The $25 billion-asset banking company got started in life insurance sales last year when it acquired the assets of the local Tice & Associates Agency Inc. and renamed it Huntington Insurance Agency.
