Short takes: Keyport Service Gives Brokers Access by PC

BOSTON - Keyport Life Insurance Co. has introduced a computer service to help speed up the sale of annuities for brokers at banks and brokerage firms.

Dubbed Keyinquiry, the new service allows agents to access information about individual accounts, and various Keyport annuities on their personal computers. Agents who use the service no longer have to write, fax, or phone the company.

The new service is part of a comprehensive computer-based management system called Keylink, intended to make sales of annuities and life insurance efficient.

Through Keylink, an agent can place an order for marketing materials, and generate policy illustrations electronically. Brokers can also track annuity sales and their production on a computer.

Keyport, a subsidiary of Liberty Financial Companies, holds more than $11 billion of assets and is a leading underwriter of annuities through banks.
