Just in time for tax season, the Investment Company Institute is offering a computer-based training course about retirement planning and individual retirement accounts.
Called "Retirement Plans and IRAs: Basic Training," the four-hour course consists of a set of computer disks and a reference book and costs $75 for members of the trade association and $100 for nonmembers.
The course is appropriate for "anyone whose job requires them to have a basic knowledge about retirement plans," said Stephanie Brown, assistant vice president for training and marketing at the trade group.
It may also help brokers keep up with the National Association of Securities Dealers' continuing education requirements, she said. A certificate of completion is available for an additional charge of $15.
By yearend, the institute plans to introduce a companion course about 401(k) plans.
