Micro Card Technologies Inc. will supply smart cards to Bank of Montreal and Toronto Dominion Bank for use in the Exact card program to be tested in Kingston, Ontario.
Micro Card's parent, Bull Groupe, also supplies cards for Belgium's Proton system, which will be adapted for the Canadian program.
For the pilot, scheduled for yearend, Micro Card said it will supply about 20,000 Bull CP8 CC60 Cash Cards. It said about 800 terminals will be installed at participating merchants in the Kingston area.
Micro Card recently moved its North American headquarters from Vienna, Va., to Billerica, Mass., to consolidate its operations with others controlled by Bull.
