Stratus System Wins Moscow Bank's Order

Stratus Computer, whose systems support 25 of the world's 30 largest banks, has signed Moscow-based Alfa-Bank as a customer.

Alfa-Bank chose Stratus' Continuum continuous availability platform to support its credit card authorization center. Stratus beat out Applied Communications' Base24 and Compaq Computer's Tandem products to win the order. It is the first Stratus platform in Russia running an HP-UX-based operating system and IFS International's TPII software.

With assets of about $1 billion, Alfa-Bank has 20 branch offices in Moscow and 15 in other cities throughout Russia.
