Suffolk Bancorp in New York Adds Banking Veteran to Its Board

Suffolk Bancorp (SUBK) in Riverhead, N.Y., has added a veteran banker to its board.

Ramesh Shah will succeed Susan O'Shea, who is retiring as a director before the $1.6 billion-asset company's annual meeting. Shah ran the retail bank at GreenPoint Financial from 1996 to 2004, when the Lake Success, N.Y., thrift company was bought by North Fork Bancorp.

Shah is a director at Cardon Outreach, which provides management services to hospitals and health service providers, and Safety Services, which supplies workplace safety products.

"With his wide range of experience at both large companies and in community banking, we know Ramesh will add considerable expertise to our board," Joseph Gaviola, Suffolk's chairman, said in a press release. "His proven success and expertise in retail banking, marketing, capital markets, management and technology will bring significant value to our deliberations."
