The open architecture platform offers clients diversification through traditional and alternative investment products, the Atlanta banking company said. It is designed to give access to institutional managers and to optimize tax-sensitivity and asset-class rebalancing.

SunTrust is to act as the overlay manager, and the overlay technology will be from CheckFree's investment services division.

The platform is expected to complement the solutions offered to the 250,000 clients of SunTrust's wealth and investment management unit, which has $250 billion of assets under management.
