Tech bytes: BAI Expands, Renames Processing Conference

The Bank Administration Institute has renamed and expanded the focus of its annual check processing conference.

The conference, which in its 19 years has become BAI's second-largest, will be known as the BAI Transaction Processing Conference. It will focus on financial transaction processing technology and its effect on the movement of funds and checks.

Given that checks continue to play an integral role in banking - the number of checks cleared annually has grown to more than 70 billion - much of the conference will still address check processing issues.

The change of a conference's focus is not unprecedented at BAI. Several years ago, the annual automated teller machine show was expanded into the more general Retail Delivery Systems Conference, now one of the largest annual banking gatherings.
