Tech Bytes: Conn.'s Webster Names Information Chief

Mark J. Tarmy has joined Webster Financial Corp. as executive vice president and chief information officer.

Before his appointment, Mr. Tarmy was chief technology officer at Thomson Securities Information Services, where he was responsible for product and technology strategy, budget planning, and operations.

He will manage and lead all aspects of Webster's Information Systems Group, including strategic technology planning, enterprisewide systems, and telecommunications. He also will work closely with Webster's business lines to integrate technology with the company's products and services.

Before Thomson, Mr. Tarmy was manager of capital market systems at Fannie Mae. He was also a senior consultant at Andersen Consulting, where he was responsible for systems design and implementation for financial and utility firms.

Webster Financial is the holding company for Webster Bank, which has $9 billion of assets.
