Tech Bytes: Fujitsu-ICL Offers New ATM Features

SAN DIEGO - Fujitsu-ICL Systems Inc., the third-largest vendor of automated teller machines to U.S. banks, unveiled new features for its terminals at a recent bank technology conference.

They include an electronic journal upload capability, an ATM minicamera, a monitor screen that is viewable even in direct sunlight, and a video electronic journal.

The journal upload capability allows ATM transaction records to be easily uploaded to a host computer over communications lines. The video electronic journal records images of ATM users for use in transaction disputes and ATM security breaches.

Each of these technologies "can be configured for a range of uses that meet the needs of a convenience-oriented public and financial institutions that want dependable, secure systems that save them money in the long run," said Ron Omohundro, vice president of financial systems at Fujitsu-ICL.

The new features are all designed for Fujitsu's 7000 series of ATMs.
