Vantive Corp. said it has achieved a scalability performance breakthrough with its Vantive 8 front-office software, which is designed to enhance customer relationships through automation of sales, marketing, call center, and other service functions.

In a test on the Oracle8 data base system and a Hewlett-Packard V-Class Enterprise Server, Vantive demonstrated sub-second response times for 15,000 concurrent users, which it called the best recorded result for an enterprise application.

The benchmark simulated a call center handling 104,000 customer calls an hour. "The results clearly confirm that ... the combination of Vantive, Oracle, and Hewlett-Packard offers a highly scalable front-office solution, enabling customers small and large to take advantage of the unparalleled performance of an Oracle data base," said John Hall, Oracle Corp. senior vice president of worldwide alliances.

"This benchmark proves that Vantive Enterprise will deliver predictable, personalized service in high-volume, high-growth, mission-critical contact centers," said Joan Gurasich, vice president of product marketing and management at Vantive.
