Tech Bytes: Zergo of U.K. Closes Deal for Dublin Firm

Zergo Holdings PLC, a cryptographic systems company in the United Kingdom, has completed its acquisition of Baltimore Technologies Ltd., a Dublin-based provider of digital certificate systems.

The stock transaction, valued at $55 million, was announced in December.

The company will adopt the Baltimore name and seek leadership in the enterprise data security and digital certificate markets. It has a combined $30 million in annual revenues, more than 350 employees, 11 international offices, and an extensive global partner network.

Henry Beker, chairman and chief executive officer of Zergo Holdings, retained those titles. Fran Rooney, president and CEO of Baltimore Technologies, is chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors.

Baltimore Technologies recently opened an office in Boston. Intel Corp. has taken a 6.26% stake in the new company.
