The state Department of Financial Institutions in Olympia, Wash., has hired Wayne Fralin to be director of the division of banks.

He succeeds Jerry Zachary, who retired in August.

Mr. Fralin is to begin Feb. 1 and report to John Bley, head of the financial institutions department.

Mr. Fralin has 32 years of bank regulatory experience, most recently as assistant regional director in San Francisco for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. He has also worked for the Resolution Trust Corp.
