Top Staff Member At MBA to Vacate The Job This Year

Warren Lasko, executive vice president at the Mortgage Bankers Association, will step down from the trade group's top staff job later this year.

Mr. Lasko, 57, a former official of the Government National Mortgage Association, has held the MBA position for more than 12 years.

He will continue at the MBA as head of a new division, MBA- International, that will spotlight the trade group's global reach, according to a press release issued Thursday.

The release said Mr. Lasko initiated the change. The trade group expects to name a successor in time for its October annual convention.

The MBA is the third housing trade group to announce departure plans of its top staff member. Kent Colton, of the National Association of Home Builders, will leave in 1999. Almon R. Smith, of the National Association of Realtors, is slated to leave Sept. 1.
