Typical Credit Mark Off a Point in 2010

U.S. consumers' average credit score slipped a point in the past year, to 668, and credit card debt fell by 8%, to $7,404, during the same period, according to data from Credit Karma Inc.

People in six metropolitan statistical areas had bigger credit score declines during 2010, Credit Karma said on Jan. 12.

The average credit score in Chicago, Houston and New York dropped two points.

The average was down three points in Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well, and four points in Philadelphia.
