UMB Fund Services Inc. of Milwaukee, part of UMB Financial Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., promoted John Zader, its chief operating officer, to chief executive officer.

Mr. Zader, 45, succeeded Vince Ciavardini, 51, who left in January to pursue other career opportunities. Peter deSilva, the chairman of UMB Fund Services and the president and chief operating officer of UMB Financial, had been interim CEO since January.
Mr. Zader was hired as the Milwaukee unit's chief operating officer six months ago. Before joining UMB, Mr. Zader was a senior vice president and the chief financial officer for U.S. Bancorp Fund Services.The promotion was announced Wednesday.
