UniRush LLC, the marketer of the prepaid card RushCard, has hired JPMorgan Chase & Co. veteran Rob Rosenblatt to be its chief executive.
Rosenblatt has a long and prominent career in the credit card industry. He was previously general manager of customer loyalty, mobile commerce and innovation for JPMorgan Chase Card Services, overseeing loyalty programs for 25 million cardholders. While at JPMorgan Chase, Rosenblatt also piloted a gift card program using the wallet function of mobile phones.
Prior to that, Rosenblatt was the lead executive in charge of the e-business unit for Citigroup Inc.'s Citi Cards, where he developed a cobranded credit card with American Express Co.
"I have long admired RushCard's laser focus on developing products and features that its members really need in order to gain control over their finances," Rosenblatt said in a press release Monday. "I look forward to accelerating our growth through an even greater focus on marketing and innovative product development."
UniRush was founded in 2003 by media and hip-hop entertainment mogul Russell Simmons.
Rosenblatt said he will concentrate on industry partnerships, recruitment, and developing innovative products exclusive to RushCard's members, including card-to-card funds transfers, online budgeting and mobile tools.
There are approximately 60 million unbanked consumers in the U.S. About 2.5 million consumers use the Prepaid Visa RushCard.
