Unisys Corp. has rolled out an intelligent safe product that allows banks' business customers to receive instant credits when cash is deposited into the devices.
The SmartCash Vault tracks and verifies deposits made at customers' locations. Armor Safe Technologies LLC of The Colony, Texas, handles the deployment and maintenance of the safes.
Unisys, of Blue Bell, Pa., said the system reduces cash shrinkage and enables customers to receive faster credit for deposits without having to physically haul the notes to a branch.
Bank of America Corp. and Fifth Third Bancorp have been offering similar products since 2007.
