Upstate New York Bank Buys Rival

Community Bank System Inc. in DeWitt, N.Y., said Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Wilber Corp.

The $5.5 billion-asset company announced in October that it would buy the $870 million-asset Wilber, in nearby Oneonta, for $101.8 million in cash and stock.

With the acquisition, Community Bank has $6.3 billion of assets and $4.6 billion of deposits.

Wilber is Community Bank's first traditional acquisition in nearly four years.
