Visa Offering Travel Discounts In Latest 'Rewards' Promotion

Visa U.S.A. has launched the third leg of its Visa Rewards promotion, which will provide cardholder savings on airline tickets, car rentals, hotel stays, cruises, and other travel-related products.

The campaign, dubbed Visa Rewards for Travel and Adventure, will run through Dec. 31, supported by radio and print advertising.

Sponsors include Northwest Airlines, Doubletree Hotels and Guest Suites, Alamo Rent A Car, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, the mail-order company Orvis, American Eagle Outfitters, Discovery Zone, and Choice Hotels International.

Cardholders can redeem 10% of their Visa credit card or Visa check card purchases in savings certificates.

They will redeem 20% for purchases made at any of the eight participating partner companies.

At the end of the promotion, Visa Gold cardholders will get an additional 10% in their certificates accrued from gold card purchases.

These certificates can be used for discounts at the participating locations, with varying savings limits.

Balances remaining from any offer must be paid with a Visa card.

The program is one of a series of ongoing umbrella promotional campaigns under the Visa Rewards theme.

The first, which started on Oct. 1, 1994 and ran through Dec. 31, was called Visa Rewards for Vacation Travel and involved discounts on travel products offered by Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites, Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, and American Airlines Fly AAway Vacations.

The second promotion, labeled Visa Rewards for Dining and Diversions, ran from June 1 to Aug. 31.
