Wachovia has announced a new version of its mobile-banking application, provided by Qualcomm-owned, m-banking pioneer Firethorn Holdings, which is now available to Verizon Wireless customers. Compatibility with Verizon handsets, combined with the launch of mobile banking for customers with AT&T phones, has helped Wachovia Mobile offer banking and billpay services through carriers that have a 60 percent share of the wireless market.
The new service offers a downloadable enrollment application. Verizon and Firethorn recently announced an agreement to add a preloaded application to handsets, but there was no information on when or if that option will be made available.
