Walgreen Co. has signed a deal with SunGard Data Systems Inc. to use the vendor's cash-management software.
The Deerfield, Ill., retailer will use SunGard's AvantGard Treasury program to help it eliminate manual processes and improve access to its financial data.
The AvantGard Treasury program connects to the vendor's AvantGard Echos portal, which helps companies manage multiple bank relationships. SunGard said in a press release that Walgreen will use its software in more than 17 banking relationships.
Walgreen will also run the programs in a "private cloud," which means the company's "operating costs will be kept down and scalability for future growth will be supported," Dan Morrell, the director of finance at Walgreen, said in the release.
