Wells Check Scanner Passes $1 Trillion

Wells Fargo & Co. said its Desktop Deposit check-scanning service has handled $1 trillion in deposits since its 2005 introduction.

The San Francisco banking company said the service, which lets customers generate and deposit check images from a computer scanner, has attracted nearly 13,000 users.

They have deposited 95.2 million checks from January 2010 through November and 306 million checks overall, the company said.

The Desktop Deposit service uses Web-based software and does not require customers to download any programs.
