Wells Insurance Taps Operations Head

Wells Fargo & Co.'s insurance arm in Chicago, Wells Fargo Insurance Services, said it had promoted Paul Baldwin to chief operating officer of its American E & S unit.

In his new post, Mr. Baldwin is to take a role in strategic business development, the company said Thursday. His primary duties are to be expanding cross-selling opportunities within Wells Fargo Insurance Services, developing customers, and working with the executive management committee to set short- and long-term strategic goals.

Before joining Wells Fargo Insurance Services in 2003, Mr. Baldwin was a vice president at Aon Risk Services of Arizona.

Since 1980, American E & S, headquartered in San Francisco, has linked insurance brokers with specialty markets.

Wells Fargo Insurance Services, formerly Acordia Inc., is the fifth-largest insurance brokerage and the largest bank-owned brokerage in the United States, with more than 150 offices in 38 states.
