Wells, M&T Creating Dozens of Jobs

Wells Fargo (WFC) is planning to add up to 200 jobs at its call center in Salem, Ore., and M&T Bank (MTB) of Buffalo, N.Y., intends to hire as many as 30 new employees in the Albany, N.Y., area, according to local news reports.

The Portland Business Journal reported Tuesday that San Francisco-based Wells will begin hiring for sales and customer-service positions in July and expects to continue hiring for six months. With the new hires, the eight-year-old call center will employ roughly 800 workers. The  jobs pay between $11.86 and $12.89 per hour.

Also on Tuesday, the Business Review in Albany said that M&T has leased an additional 6,900 square feet of space at its mortgage processing center in Clifton Park, N.Y., and plans to add about 30 employees to its staff of 105 there.

The center processes loan applications from M&T branches in central New York, Albany, the Hudson Valley, New York City and the Mid-Atlantic region. It also handles correspondent services for smaller banks that sell mortgage-servicing rights to M&T.
