Westpac to Distribute Hypercom Terminals

Westpac Banking Corp. is planning to distribute thousands of payment terminals from Hypercom Corp. to merchants in Australia.

The $50 million deal, announced last week, also includes a five-year servicing agreement with the Scottsdale, Ariz., point of sale terminal maker.

Hypercom said Westpac will offer its Optimum T4200 terminal and the project, which is set to kick off early next year, will be one of the largest payment terminal rollouts in Australia to date.

Westpac's "decision to switch to Hypercom represents a huge market share gain for the company in Australia and New Zealand, and considerably expands our footprint," Jacques-Herve Maupin, Hypercom's managing director for the Asia Pa-cific region, said in a press release.
