Wong Named Chairman of SGV Bancorp And Its Thrift

SGV Bancorp, West Covina, Calif., has elected Benjamin S. Wong chairman of its board and that of its subsidiary, First Federal Savings and Loan Association of San Gabriel Valley.

He succeeds Royce A. Stutzman, who completed a two-year term as chairman. Mr. Stutzman, chairman of the accounting and consulting firm of Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman in La Verne, Calif., will remain as a director.

Mr. Wong is general manager and chief executive of The Great Wall Restaurant. He is also a West Covina councilman and local business leader active in community affairs.

Peter F. Stanton, president and chief executive of Washington Trust Bank, Spokane, has also become chairman, succeeding his father, Philip H. Stanton.

The senior Mr. Stanton will remain chairman and CEO of Washington Trust's $1.3 billion-asset holding company, WTB Financial Corp.
