WorldPay, the payments processor formerly owned by Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, said Tuesday that it has agreed to acquire Envoy Services Ltd., a London company that provides e-commerce payment services.
Envoy works with international merchants to accept alternative payments through a network of 200 local bank accounts and 40 alternative payment services.
"The acquisition of Envoy confirms WorldPay's status as the leading player in global e-commerce payments and fraud prevention and signifies a renewed focus on innovation for our customers," Ron Kalifa, WorldPay Group's chief executive, said in a press release.
The deal is expected to close in May. Financial terms were not disclosed.
WorldPay is majority-owned by the private-equity firms Advent International Corp. and Bain Capital LLC, which bought it from Royal Bank of Scotland in December.
RBS has a minority stake in the company.
