House Financial Services Committee Headed by Hensarling Looks Likely

As voters are still making their way to the polls, what exactly can we venture about the future of financial regulation at this very moment?

"Republicans are highly likely to retain control of the House," writes American Banker’s Victoria Finkle. And all signs are pointing to Rep. Jeb Hensarling as the next leader of the House Financial Services Committee.

Many predict the Texas Republican will focus on two main priorities: revamping Dodd-Frank and GSE reform.

"Hensarling is going to see these two issues as connected – financial reform isn’t separate from mortgage finance. There will be some attempt to build an agenda around that," said Mark Calabria of the Cato Institute.
