WASHINGTON–The American Bankers Association on March 5 unveiled a task force to develop strategies to ensure an efficient payments market.
Jeff Plagge, president of Northwest Financial Corp. of Arnolds Park, Iowa, and a vice chairman for the trade group, will lead the payments systems task force, which is comprised of a group of eight bankers from across the country.
“With many emerging digital and mobile payment solutions, it is important to ensure competitive access and participation for banks of all size and charters,” Plagge said in a press release. “The Payment Systems Task Force will work to ensure consumer benefit from the safety and security provided by bank-operated payment solutions.”
Those in the task force include Howard Boyle, president and CEO of Home Savings Banks based in Kent, Ohio; Stephen Goodenow, president of Goodenow Bancorporation in Okoboji, Iowa; Richard Green, CEO of Firstrust Savings Bank in Conshohcken, Pa.; and Charles Majors, chairman and CEO of American National Bankshares Inc. in Danville, Va.
