Cardtronics Inc.’s Allpoint surcharge-free ATM network has added more than 2,500 Cardtronics Mexico ATMs deployed in retail locations across Mexico, including Oxxo convenience stores, Cardtronics announced Jan. 18.
The Allpoint-branded ATMs support transaction activity in both Spanish and English. With the addition of Cardtronics Mexico’s machines, Allpoint now provides surcharge-free ATM access throughout the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Australia, Cardtronics noted in a news release.
“More than 4.3 million U.S. tourists traveled to Mexico in 2010 alone,” Ben Psillas, Allpoint president, said in the release. “Providing these tourists, as well as more frequent business travelers, convenient, surcharge-free ATM access while they travel is consistent with the Allpoint brand promise.”
For Cardtronics Mexico, providing access to the Allpoint network represents “a milestone,” noted Scott Abogado, the Cardtronics affiliate’s general manager. “We are the only ATM network to offer this type of quality services for our customers, as we continue to innovate the ATM industry in Mexico,” he said in the release.
