Consumers making payments to the federal government will be able to do so through the Amazon Payments digital wallet.
The Bureau of Fiscal Service announced it would accept Amazon Payments, making it the third digital wallet option available to consumers. Last year, the bureau began accepting PayPal and Dwolla payments in order to allow consumers to make payments through the Internet or a mobile app.

Those using the digital wallets do not have to enroll in an additional system or provide personal information to make payments, thus reducing the risk of fraud on payment cards, the bureau said.
The digital wallets will work for payments being made to Pay.gov, the federal government portal for making non-tax related payments.
