Bangkok Bank will use technology from Fiserv Inc. for a mobile-payments service, a spokesperson for the United States-based financial-technology vendor tells CardLine Global. The deal with Thailand-based Bangkok Bank marks the first deployment of Fiserv's "Mobile Money" service in the Asia-Pacific region, the spokesperson says. The service enables consumers to pay bills with their mobile phones, which are tied to customer bank accounts. Customers also can view account information, transfer funds and add value to their mobile-phone accounts. Fiserv declines to estimate how many customers might use the service by year's end, and immediate comment from the bank was not available.
