Bank Of Beijing Hopes To Issue 150,000 UnionPay Cards

Bank of Beijing says it has begun to issue a UnionPay-branded credit card in Beijing. "The bank expects to issue 150,000 new cards [by] the end of this year and will focus on customers in Beijing areas initially," Xiaoyan Yan, the bank's president, says in a statement. Bank of Beijing began issuing its first credit cards in February. The bank says it is working with Beijing merchants to enable some consumers with the new cards to receive 50% discounts on purchases.
