Barclaycard Adds NFC Payments to Android App

The Barclaycard app now will allow Near Field Communication-enabled contactless payments on supported Android devices.

With the new feature, consumers can make contactless payments of up to £30 pounds ($43) without a PIN, or payments of up to £100 with PIN authentication, according to a report on Engadget

Android Pay has yet to roll out in the U.K., so the Barclaycard app fills a void for consumers who want to make contactless mobile payments. Barclays has been slow to support Apple Pay, which launched in the U.K. in July 2015.
