Barclaycard To Use Welcome Real-Time For Rewards Scheme

Welcome Real-time, which develops card software, has signed a deal to provide technology that United Kingdom-based issuer Barclaycard will use for a retailer rewards scheme. Welcome, based in France, says it will provide the scheme's information-technology infrastructure and work with Barclaycard to "develop the software that will enable [the issuer's] customers to" take part in the scheme. Barclaycard, the credit card-issuing arm of Barclays PLC, has a network of some 89,000 merchants and a UK customer base of nearly 12 million, along with 11.6 million customers outside the UK. Details about the timing and scope of Barclaycard's plan for the scheme remained vague Friday, and the issuer did not respond to requests for comment.
