Barclays Global Retail Bank India has linked its network of 12 ATMs with National Financial Switch, the country’s largest network of shared ATMs, an official at the National Payments Corp. of India tells PaymentsSource.
National Payments manages National Financial’s network of more than 55,000 ATMs deployed by 38 banks that operate in India. National Financial switches an average of 2.7 million ATM transactions per day.
“With this linkage, Barclays’ customers would now have access to the ATM networks of other member banks,” the official says. “Till now, Barclays cardholders could only access the bank’s own ATM network.”
Barclays Bank issues Visa-branded debit and credit cards in India and deploys ATMs manufactured by Wincor Nixdorf.
