Moscow-based startup Cardberry is planning to launch an app and device to streamline discount and loyalty cards.
Cardberry uses a QR scanner to centralize the functionalities of multiple cards into a single smartphone app. When users need one of the physical cards during transactions, they can use a Cardberry card, which communicates with the app through a Bluetooth signal, Cardberry explained in a Dec. 29 press release.
The Cardberry system also allows users to share benefits with their contacts. Once enabled, that functionality lasts 24 hours.
A later version, to be released sometime in 2016, will incorporate Near Field Communication, radio-frequency identification and flash memory.
