JPMorgan Chase & Co. is issuing a prepaid card for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to handle payments to parents receiving adoption subsidies, the New York-based issuer announced Jan. 20.
The card should save counties an average of $7 per issuance each month, Gladys Carrion, the agency’s commissioner, said in a press release.
The cards “will provide much needed workload relief associated with a paper payment process,” she said. “Also, adoptive parents will enjoy the convenience of a more timely payment, and no longer have to deal with lost or stolen checks, or waiting in line at the bank to cash them.”
