Citibank Russia says it has started to issue a MasterCard-branded contactless credit card that will enable users to make retail purchases and pay transit fares on Moscow subways. Citibank estimates some 1 million consumers will use the card. More than half of Moscow metro users are between the ages of 25 and 54, considered the prime age group for use of such a card, Citi says in a statement. The bank expects the scheme to expand to include payments for bus and tram fares. Citi has issued cards with transit applications in Singapore, Delhi and other cities.
