Citibank and Visa Inc. plan a test next month of Near Field Communication payments in Singapore, a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. The companies expect to start the test on 1 May with 300 customers who have Citi-issued Visa platinum credit cards. The test is scheduled to run for three months. Consumers will use Nokia 6212 mobile handsets loaded with Visa's payWave contactless payment application to make purchases at some 700 merchants, includes cafes, restaurants and bookstores, the bank says. Consumers can make contactless purchases for up to S$100 (US$67 or 49 euros).
