VeriFone announced the deal Monday.

Claim Jumper is installing the device for carside payments at several locations and eventually will deploy both the carside and table devices at all 45 of its restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin, VeriFone said.

"Customers are seeking convenience and speed when it comes to payment transactions" and the VeriFone device "delivers that with maximum security," Ted Stathakis, Claim Jumper's vice president of technology, said in a press release.

VeriFone said the devices help protect against fraud by keeping the cards in the customer's control. Its systems "use encryption and other security features to protect all financial data transacted over a restaurant's Wi-Fi network."
