Clinkle Hires Former PayPal Executive Mike Liberatore as CFO

Mike Liberatore has become the new chief financial officer at the payments startup Clinkle.

While Clinkle has yet to release its product, the startup has attracted investment from a number of high-profile Silicon Valley figures, and has also been adding technology talent. Liberatore was most recently the senior director of large enterprise finance and North America financial planning and analysis at PayPal.

He also serviced as director of finance for Asia-Pacific for the eBay subsidiary. Before PayPal, Liberatore served in several executive positions at eBay, Adobe Systems, Intel and Hewlett-Packard.

Clinkle is building a payments system that will not rely on hardware or software. It has not revealed how it will do this, though it's been widely reported that the company will rely on high-frequency sound emitted by smartphone speakers. Alipay and shopkick have used similar technology, and PayPal Beacon uses Bluetooth to achieve a similar effect. Clinkle did not answer questions on its technology model by deadline.
