Club Vivanet Inc., a provider of prepaid cards, online tickets and telecommunications services, announced plans last week to begin offering self-processed cobranded prepaid cards starting in January. Cape Coral, Fla.-based Club Vivanet says it received a license from Expert Financial Systems LLC to use the Norcross, Ga.-based company's processing platform to do its own processing. Bringing processing in-house has reduced its point-of-sale processing costs from 90 cents to 15 cents per transaction, Bruce Perlowin, a marketing official at Club Vivanet, tells CardLine. The company is negotiating with three national banks to provide reloading services for customers and is deciding which card brand to use on its cards, Perlowin says. It plans to market the cards to companies with employees spread over multiple locations or employees without access to banks, such as those working on cruise ships, where an employee would be unable to cash a paycheck, Perlowin says. It also plans to market the cards to immigrants who want to send funds to their home countries and to parents who want to use the cards to provide children at college with spending money, Perlowin says.
