Credit Card Receivables Up 5% In Philippines

More Filipinos are using credit cards to pay for goods and services, data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the country's central bank, show. Credit card receivables for universal (both commercial and investment), commercial and thrift banks this year as of 30 Sept. increased to 130.2 billion pesos (US$2.8 billion or 1.8 billion euros), up 4.7% from 124.4 billion pesos at the same point last year. Credit card receivables for universal and commercial banks grew by 8.7%, to 129.7 billion pesos from 119.3 billion pesos. Credit card receivables for thrift banks stood at 300 million pesos, down 94% from 5.1 billion pesos.
