The State Bank of India will buy 2,740 full-service ATMs from Diebold Inc., a spokesperson for the United States-based ATM maker tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine Global sister publication. Diebold expects to deliver machines to the bank in May. The State Bank of India operates a network of 12,000 ATMs, and it plans to expand the network by 4,000 machines, though it was unclear what other vendor was supplying the remaining ATMs. Diebold, the world's third-largest ATM manufacturer based on 2007 worldwide shipments, has an agreement to manage 3,500 of the bank's ATMs.
