Dutch Bangla Bank Assessing Fee For ATM Receipts

Debit card customers of Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd. face paying a 3 taka fee (43 U.S. cents or 31 euro cents) for taking a transaction receipt at the bank’s ATMs under a new policy that took effect last month, an official from the Bangladesh-based bank tells PaymentsSource.

The bank levies the charge after the machine notifies customers of the fee and they accept it, according to the official. “The paper for ATMs, which was imported from Singapore, is now being imported from a costlier vendor,” he says. “In any case, the charges always remain changeable under our terms and conditions.”

Dutch Bangla, the largest private bank in India with 610 ATMs, started charging the service fee on Jan.15, resulting in immediate criticism from citizens interviewed by the local press.

The bank also charges 200 taka as an annual service fee for its ATM card and another 460 taka annually for savings accounts, the official says.
