Payment processor Elavon has signed a multi-year agreement to provide payment gateway and security technology to Wyndham Hotel Group.
Elavon, a unit of US Bancorp, will deploy its Fusebox payments gateway and Simplify security software to remove cardholder data from property management systems at 4,500 of the company's more than 7,600 hotels in the next 18 months.
The layered approach to security includes encryption, tokenization and EMV acceptance devices, helping hotels address Payment Card Industry security standards compliance and the EMV liability shift coming in October, Elavon said in a June 16 press release.
"Meeting the complex needs of our customers drives innovation cycles at Elavon," Guy Harris, president of Elavon North America, said in the release. "Bringing that cycle to life for Wyndham and its properties is a great opportunity for us to help position them as an industry leader when it comes to payment security in hospitality."
By using Fusebox, hotels never have access to cardholder data. When a customer pays with a credit or debit card through Elavon's Simplify payment software, Fusebox creates a token, or a randomized number, that replaces the actual account data.
