Point-of-sale terminal maker ExaDigm Inc. is working on a payment-terminal system for taxis, CardLine sister publication ISO&Agent Weekly has learned. Details are few, but an ExaDigm spokesperson says the system, called the TS100, will use a wireless telephony modem to connect to payment networks. An ExaDigm spokesperson says it designed the system to be less expensive than similar systems from other companies that include large monitors playing entertainment programming. The ExaDigm system includes a card reader and a PIN pad with a small screen for transaction prompts, the spokesperson says. It also includes a receipt printer. Drivers can mount the terminal in the vehicle. ExaDigm would not disclose the cost of the system, but it anticipates independent sales organizations would be able to sell it. ExaDigm expects the system to be available mid-year.
